Tuesday-Treasure #28

titel_c

Today’s Tuesday-Treasure is different than before! I want to share another type of treasure with you guys!

Recently, I read Shaoshi’s article about learning Chinese on your own and one tip was to translate your favorite songs. Maybe publishing my song analysis will motivate me to continue studying Chinese on my own. I listen to this particular song for a while and I love it! I never looked up the lyrics and I always thought it’s a love song. Turns out it’s a break-up song…
Check it out!

How I analyze the lyrics:

Chinese character (Hanzi)

Pinyin (how to pronounce Hanzi)
My word by word translation
Actual translation – from the internet

Personally, the word by word translation was really important. The actual translation is sometimes rather interpretive and not really close to the meaning of the Hanzi. That’s why I wanted to know what each Hanzi means and how you can interpret that.
English grammar doesn’t apply in the word by word translation!

Beware! There are several meanings to a character so there are probably many mistakes but this is my first attempt and I hope I will improve in the future!

曲婉婷 – Qu Wanting (name of the artist)
我的歌声里 -You exist in my song (wǒ de gēshēng lǐ)

没有   一点点   防备,也 没有 一 丝 顾虑
méiyǒu yìdiǎndiǎn fángbèi, yě méiyǒu yì sī gùlǜ
Haven’t a little bit guard against, also haven’t one trace apprehension
Without any precaution, and without a trace of apprehension

你 就 这样  出现  在  我 的 世界 里,
nǐ jiù zhèyàng chūxiàn zài wǒ de shìjiè lǐ,
you at once like this appear at my world,
you appeared in my world as you did,

带给 我 惊喜,情不自已
dàigěi wǒ jīngxǐ , qíngbúzìyǐ
bring me pleasantly surprised, feeling not self stop
bringing me a pleasant surprise, that I couldn’t resist

可是 你 偏 又  这样,在  我 不知不觉 中
kěshì nǐ piān yòu zhèyàng, zài wǒ bùzhībùjué zhōng
but you learn again like this, exist me unconsciously among
But like this, without me knowing

悄悄  的  消失,  从  我 的 世界 里,
qiāoqiāo de xiāoshī , cóng wǒ de shìjiè lǐ ,
quietly disappear, from my world,
you quietly disappeared, from my world,

没有   音讯 剩下,  的 只是  回忆
méiyǒu yīnxùn , shèngxià de zhǐshì huíyì
No messages remain, only memories
without a word, leaving behind only my memories

你 存在,我 深深   的 脑海 里,我 的 梦里,
nǐ cúnzài, wǒ shēnshēn de nǎohǎi lǐ, wǒ de mènglǐ,
you exist in my deep mind,  in my dreams,
You exist, deep in my mind, in my dreams,

我 的 心里,我 的 歌声 里
wǒ de xīnlǐ ,  wǒ de gēshēng lǐ
in my heart, in my song
in my heart, and in my song

还 记得 我们 曾经,
hái jìdé wǒmen céngjīng,
return remember our previously,
Still remember us once

肩并肩    一 起 走过,那 段  繁华  巷口
jiānbìngjiān yì qǐ zǒuguò, nà duàn fánhuá xiàngkǒu
side by side once start walk past, that bustling alley
walking side by side together past that bustling alley

尽管  你 我 是 陌生人,  是 过路人,
jìnguǎn nǐ wǒ shì mòshēngrén, shì guòlùrén,
Even though you I are stranger, are passer-by,
Even though we were strangers, just passing by each other,

Comment “rooster” if you read the article until this point!

但 彼此 还是 感觉 到 了 对方  的
dàn bǐcǐ háishì gǎnjué dào le duìfāng de
but each other still feel other side
we still felt each other

一个 眼神,一个 心跳….
yí gè yǎnshén, yí gè xīntiào ….
one glance, one heartbeat…
One look, one beat of the heart

一 种   意想不到   的 快乐,好像   是
yì zhǒng yìxiǎngbúdào de kuàilè, hǎoxiàng shì
one unexpected happy, as if is
one unexpected delight. It’s like

一 场   梦境,   命中注定
yì chǎng mèngjìng, mìngzhōngzhùdìng
one dreamland destined
a dream, that was destined.

世界 之 大 为何 我们   相遇
shìjiè zhī dà wéihé wǒmen xiāngyù
world it big why we meet
The world is so big, why did we meet?

难道  是  缘分
nándào shì yuánfèn?
could it be that is fate?
Could it have been chance?

难道  是 天意…
nándào shì tiānyì?
could it be that is Will of Heaven…
Could it have been destiny?

Do you like the song?

  1. Wow, sehr beeindruckend Julia.
