Today’s treasure is something I have never shared with you guys. A recipe! It is vegan and vegetarian. Recently, I am obsessed with homemade salsa (although it was horribly hot in Germany). I had a bunch of bell peppers and tomatoes to use before they turn bad, so I was basically living off of salsa.
What you need (for a bowl of salsa like in the picture):
- 3 tomatoes
- 2 bell peppers
- 1 carrot
- 1 onion
- salt, pepper, sugar, chili powder (or fresh chili)
- tortilla chips (with chili flavor)
- a small pot without lid
Remove the skin from the tomatoes (you can boil some water and let the tomatoes float in the water for some minutes). Cut all vegetables up into really small (!!!) pieces and first fry the onion and carrot a little bit and then add everything else. You can add the spices to your liking. The key is to simmer everything on low heat for about 45 minutes to 1 hour until the consistency is thicker. Stir every now and then.
I personally like to eat the salsa when it is still warm.
Tip: The salsa taste even better when you warm it up the next day!
P.S.: Of course I had the use an authentic Asian bowl 😉
